Inside The Cottage, stylish interior decor and contemporary features enhance a sense of warmth, comfort, and understated sophistication. Immediately upon arrival, you will feel a sense of relaxation as the atmosphere soothes away the stresses of daily living.
The tranquility and peacefulness of The Cottage surroundings are interrupted only by the sounds of the native Tui and Bellbird performing their beautiful bird song or you may even get a glimpse of our native Wood Pigeon, the Kereru. In the evening, if you are lucky, you may hear the sound of the Morepork – New Zealand’s native owl – its haunting call echoing evocatively through the night air.
The Cottage at River Birches truly is your perfect escape alongside the magical waters of the Tongariro.
The Cottage is self-contained, self-catering accommodation, but with service options available, if desired.
Features include a modern, well-appointed kitchen, allowing you to cook all your own meals, or you may choose to have your meals provided by the resident chef at River Birches. There is also a range of local restaurants and cafes around the Turangi and Taupo townships.
River Birches provide The Cottage with a hamper of gourmet breakfast provisions that you can prepare in the well-equipped kitchen. For your convenience, other quality foods such as artisanal New Zealand cheeses, regional wines, lamb, venison, and Wagyu beef can be ordered in advance, just contact the Lodge staff. Other provisions can be obtained locally in the Turangi township.
